US 71 in Minnesota
According to transporthint, US 71 is a US Highway in the US state of Minnesota. The road forms a north-south route through the center of the state, from the Iowa border through Willmar and Bemidji to the Canadian border at International Falls. US 71 is 692 kilometers long in Minnesota.
South of Jackson, US 71 in Iowa enters the state of Minnesota. You reach the town of Jackson after 15 kilometers, where you cross the Interstate 90. Then follows a 30-kilometer stretch to Windom, a small town where one crosses the more important State Route 60. Windom is followed by a 150-mile stretch across the prairies of western Minnesota to the town of Willmar. US 71 here is a single-lane road through a flat agricultural area, the main scenic interruption being the shallow Minnesota River valley near Redwood Falls.
US 71 forms an eastern bypass of the town of Willmar and is equipped with 2×2 lanes there. The US 12 is also crossed here. This is followed by a 70-kilometre stretch through the countryside to Sauk Centre. US 71 passes here 140 kilometers west of Minneapolis. At Sauk Center there is a connection to Interstate 94. This is followed by a 90-kilometre stretch to Wadena, where the landscape gradually changes, with slowly more forestation. In Wadena you cross the US 10.
The US 71 then travels 140 kilometers to Bemidji. Bemidji is one of the larger towns in northwestern Minnesota. The southern half of this stretch is mainly through meadows, the northern part closer to Bemidji is through densely forested terrain. Here, US 71 runs close to the source of the Mississippi River. US 71 then follows US 2 over the Bemidji bypass, which is a 2×2 lane freeway.
From Bemidji, US 71 changes course, then the final 180 kilometers through the wilderness of northern Minnesota. This stretch to International Falls is through very remote territory, with virtually no sites or intersections of interest. The landscape here consists of dense forests and peat bogs. The northernmost portion of US 71 runs parallel to the Rainy River, which forms the border with Canada. US 71 ends in downtown International Falls at US 53.
US 71 was created in 1926 and its northern terminus has always been the border with Canada at International Falls. The route in Minnesota has always been of somewhat more secondary importance, although there are no directly competing highways, but there are simply very few places of any size on the route. US 71 runs a 1,200-mile stretch between St. Joseph, Missouri, and International Falls with no town larger than 20,000 residents on the route.

According to travelationary, US 75 is a US Highway in the US state of Minnesota. The road forms a north-south route in the west of the state, from the border with Iowa through Moorhead to the border with Canada. US 75 is 663 kilometers long in Minnesota.
South of Luverne, US 75 crosses the Minnesota border from Sioux City in Iowa. About 15 kilometers north, US 75 leads through Luverne, where there is a connection to Interstate 90.
After Luverne there is a 380 kilometer long route to Moorhead. Parallel to the borders with South Dakota and North Dakota, there are only a few villages on this route. This is one of the longest stretches in Minnesota that does not pass through a town larger than 5,000 residents. The US 75 is single-lane and leads through a very monotonous area, with endless meadows and almost no forest. The main scenic break is a shallow valley of the Minnesota River near Ortonville. US 75 intersects several east-west routes here, such as US 14, US 212, and US 12. The northern part of the route runs along the Red River.
Moorhead is a city of nearly 40,000 people and the largest city in northwestern Minnesota. It is located across from the larger city of Fargo in North Dakota. Here US 75 crosses Interstate 94 and US 10. US 75 passes through downtown Moorhead and is a major urban arterial.
Moorhead is followed by a 110 km stretch across the prairies to Crookston. Initially US 75 runs a short distance from the Red River and the border with North Dakota, at Crookston the road bends slightly to the northeast. The US 75 has a bypass route here on the west side of Crookston. It also crosses the US 2. After Crookston there is another 150 kilometer stretch through the endless meadows to Noyes, on the border with Canada. There is no longer a functional border crossing, traffic has to go through Pembina, North Dakota to cross the border into Manitoba.
US 75 was created in 1926 and its northern terminus was the border with Canada at the hamlet of Noyes from the start. The route has never been of major transit importance in Minnesota, and was probably mostly unpaved when it was created in 1926. US 75 was paved in the 1930s.
After the construction of I-29 by the Dakotas, US 75 declined in importance. The border crossing with Canada was closed in 2003, and traffic has since been diverted to the I-29 border crossing at Pembina, North Dakota, a few miles to the west. As a result, it is no longer possible to reach Highway 75 in Manitoba from US 75.
