Now an indispensable product, the toughened glass protection has the advantage of offering a pleasant touch that reproduces the sensations of the finger on the original glass.
It is also an effective screen protection against scratches and shocks provided it is installed properly. Here are our tips for successfully installing this glass that one day could save your phone.
Preparation: An Essential Step Not To Be Neglected
If, like me, you do not get sulky when you see your new purchase arrived in your mailbox, take a deep breath and do not rush (keep calm!). In short, do not burn the stages. A physical preparation is essential, for you as well as for the screen of your phone.
Environment And Personal Hygiene
“The French are dirty”, one of the many clichés carried beyond our borders. Although I do not share this idea at all (I’m sure you do not), you must ensure that you work in a clean, non-dusty environment and wash your hands before starting the operation.
If I wanted to exaggerate, I would advise you to put yourself in the shoes of a surgeon. Imagine that you are in the final minutes before a vital operation for your patient. You must prepare your operating theater (your table) and make your hands the cleanest place on Earth (wash them).
These preliminaries are essential to prevent unwanted dust from settling on the adhesive part of the protection.
Check list before moving on to the next step:
I found a clean table with no dust or dirt (flee the cloth tablecloths)
The environment is sufficiently enlightened
I washed my hands
I work in a quiet place where I am sure not to be disturbed within the next 15 minutes (notice to parents)
Preparing The Screen
Now that you have finished preparing the environment, you can go to the next step: preparing the screen that will receive your wonderful tempered glass protection. We will continue in the medical-surgical metaphors. You are concentrated in the operating room, and your patient is in front of you. You are not going to open it with a blow of scalpel without generously spreading it of the betadine? It’s the same for your mobile screen (with a few details).
Clear All Traces
First step, the screen must be carefully cleaned with a microfibre cloth. This cleaning can be done dry or by moistening the screen very moderately if traces of fat persist. Do not be stingy in the time spent in this operation, clean the screen until there is no trace left.
Tip: depending on the angle of view, some traces may escape you. Do not hesitate to tilt your phone towards a light source to scrutinize the smallest traces that could make resistance.
Check list before moving on to the next step:
The screen of my phone is clean, without any trace (for dust, it will be dealt with in the next step)
I checked the first point of this checklist by tilting my phone in different positions
If dust is still present on the smartphone glass, make sure to remove it to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
For this step, you can equip yourself with a hair dryer (in cold position), a vacuum cleaner or your mouth if you do not have these two tools.
The hair dryer in the cold position will give a good hand to make disappear the small recalcitrant dust.
Reverse principle for the vacuum cleaner, it will suck all the bad seed. Be careful, however, that the nozzle never comes into contact with the screen of the phone (depending on the power you can be very surprised).
Finally, if you do not have a hairdryer (probable) or vacuum cleaner (a little less likely), you can simply blow on the screen (without spitting on it of course).
Laying: Surgical Precision
The fateful moment has arrived. You are ready to take the bull by the horns and begin laying your brand new glass protection. Here are all our tips for installing the toughened glass protection .
Identify The Two Faces Of The Glass
The first thing to do is to clearly identify the adhesive side of the glass protector. Refer to the product leaflet. There are normally two labels on the glass that make it possible to differentiate between the two surfaces.
“Back” or “Adhesive side”: corresponds to the adhesive side of the glass
“Front” or “Surface side”: part that is not adhesive
Once the faces are clearly identified, we can move on to the trick of the day: I advise you not to venture into the pose right away. The idea is to glue two pieces of scotch on the non-adhesive part of the glass to facilitate the positioning of the glass on the screen of the phone. In some cases, the protections are already delivered with this clever and practical device (see illustration).
Ultimate Step: Installation
Once you have set up your scotch tips, you are definitely ready to move on to the installation.
Carefully peel off the protective film from the adhesive part. Avoid as much as possible putting your fingers on the sticky surface at the risk of showing indelible traces.
Once this step is completed, you can position the film by placing the glass 2 to 3 cm above the screen.
For this final step, imagine that you are in command of a space shuttle and you have to dock it to the international space station (you see in the movies?).
Care must be taken to close the screen of the phone, making sure that the protective glass is perfectly aligned with the phone screen. To check the correct alignment, the loudspeaker and the home button are excellent points of reference.
Move the glass as close to the screen as possible, checking the alignment with the window of the phone one last time. You can finally dock the glass on the screen of your precious phone.
Finally, apply moderate pressure to the center of the screen for magic to take place. The final accession process begins. If small bubbles persist, be aware that they usually disappear within 24 hours.
